North shore (summer months)
Anini beach - Take a left from Princeville entrance onto Hwy.
56 and head towards Kilauea. Look for a large cement bridge, which
connects 2 valleys. Once you cross this bridge, it will be your first
right. About 1/2 mile down this road it will fork. Take the left fork and follow
it all the way down. When you see a pavilion
with bathrooms and a boat ramp you have found it! The best snorkeling is to the right of
the boat ramp.
Tunnels beach - Take a right onto Hwy 56 from Princeville entrance
and go through
Hanalei Town. Tunnels is between mile markers 8 and 9, which are past
Hanalei town and just past the Hanalei Colony Resort. You must
park at Heana State Park and back track to Tunnels. No parking on the
side of the road. This beach is great for snorkeling and swimming!!
Ke'e beach - This beach is literally at the end of the road! Take a right
onto Hwy. 56 heading towards and through Hanalei. Just follow this road
all the way to the very end. You won't be able to go any further I
promise you can't miss!! Great for snorkeling and beautiful sunsets in
the summer.
Lydgate park - Take a left onto Hwy. 56 heading south from Princeville
entrance. Just past the Wailua River take a left at the Holiday
Inn Sun Spree Resort and then take your first left after that. This is a protected
reef,
so it's great for beginners and children.
South shore (winter months)
Po'ipu beach park - Take a left onto Hwy. 56 south to Hwy. 50 heading
west. Then turn right on Hwy. 520. Take Po'ipu Rd. east past all the
hotels. Turn right on Ho'owili Rd. and go all the way to the end. Snorkeling
is best to the right of the cove.
Salt Pond - Take a left on Hwy 56 south to Hwy 50 west. Then go south on
Hwy 520. Turn left on Hwy. 543 leaving Hanapepe. Go 1/2 mile, then turn
right onto Loloka Rd., next to the cemetery.
Koloa Landing - Take a left from the entrance of Princeville onto
Hwy. 56 south to Hwy 50 west. Then go south on Hwy 520. Now take Lawa'i
Rd., then the first left over the small bridge. Finally take the first dirt
road
to the right. (THIS IS BEST FOR EXPERIENCED DIVERS ONLY)
